How Much Pancake Mix to Get for a Crowd

How Much Pancake Mix To Get For A Big Group  (A Helpful Chart)

Pancakes really are just the perfect food for any occasion. Whether it may be a family reunion, holiday getaway, A big Thanksgiving crowd or a random day out with friends, a pancake mix is one of the most versatile choices of food we can have. It is so easy to make them exciting by adding some almond milk a little coconut oil and you have a perfect pancake.

We all know how to make an easy pancake recipe but scaling it up for lots and lots of people can sometimes be an issue. Making pancakes for a crowd is a different thing. You will need to prepare a bunch of dry ingredients and wet ingredients on the table. The pancake batter will also be a little more difficult to mix since it will be in a bigger quantity.

So not all recipes scale up.

Buying a dry pancake mix may be the answer – and we will outline below exactly how much you need for 10,20, 50 or even 100 people.

How Much Pancake Dry Mix Do You Need For A Crowd

Pancakes are an integral part of any meal. There’s no such thing as the perfect breakfast without pancakes, and that holds true for any occasion. So calculating the amount of Pancake Premix to buy is important so you do not run out. We cover below how many boxes from brands like Hungry Jacks, Bisquick and Krusteaz you will net to get for 1 to 100 people.

How Many Pancakes Is A Serving?

Basically, an average serving of pancakes is 4 pancakes of a 4-inch size. This is over a typical event of a few hours. However, if it is a breakfast with other choices then consumption may be a little less. However, pancakes are cheap so it does not hurt to budget on 4 per person, and as long as you have the batter prepared it is quite easy to make more. Or simply make a sheet pancake as a standby and keep it warm in the oven.

It helps to know the exact number of guests that are attending the event. You also have to keep in mind the measurements of pancake batter. This can be a little tricky – so we have prepared sets of different popular brands of pancake mixes and their own measurements for their pancakes so you can be in control right from the start.

Also, if the measurement or serving sizes do not meet yours, that is you want bigger pancakes you just have to adjust it per person.

Make sure you have read the instructions and serving size of the pancake mix you have bought from the store before making one.

Making pancakes are very easy. Even kids can do that in just a few minutes. However, it is a different story if you will be making it in a large batch. A little more planning and testing is necessary and also make sure you have the right sized kitchen bowls and utensils.

Check this fluffy pancake recipe below. (you can also use this to make a sheet pan pancake)

Serving size: 120 pancakes

Prep time: 1 hr and 30 minutes

  • 4 boxes of Krusteaz pancake mix flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/8 cup double-acting baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • 4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 quartz buttermilk
  • 5 cups whole milk or half and half
  • 18 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • maple syrup, chocolate syrup, confectioners’ sugar

Instructions for homemade pancake mix

1. Prepare a large mixing bowl or stockpot that can hold a huge quantity of pancake mix or batter. Clean and dry it.

2. Whisk the dry ingredients such as flour (you can substitute wheat flour for a stronger taste), baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

3. Prepare a separate large mixing bowl and whisk the wet ingredients such as buttermilk, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Thoroughly mix until smooth.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir to combine and until fairly smooth. Avoid having large lumps.

5. Allow the pancake batter to rest for 15 minutes. Do not cover.

6. Preheat the large griddle for 325°F to 350°F.

7. Get a spoonful of batter and cook until bubbles form on top of the pancake. Flip and cook until golden brown.

8. Serve immediately. Warm in the oven if needed.
