How To Reheat Egg Rolls in an Oven

Egg rolls can easily be reheated in the oven if you’re looking for a way to make them crisp. It takes a while so you have to be patient. But it is worth it!

  1. First, pre-heat your oven at 350 F (175C)
  2. Then place the egg rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. Bake for 5 minutes and then roll them so they heat evenly
  4. Bake for another five minutes until lightly golden brown.
  5. You want to check every few minutes because this process could burn quickly.
  6. Once done, remove from the oven and let stand for 1-2 minutes before serving.

The egg rolls can be reheated in the microwave. However, microwaves tend to make them soggy. Make sure that you don’t heat them too long, or they will become soft.

Here’s the method to reheat egg rolls in a microwave:

  1. Put a plastic trivet on top of a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Now, put the egg rolls on top of the trivet. By putting them on top of the trivet, we let the steam and heat escape which helps prevent soggy egg rolls.
  3. Set 30 seconds on High
  4. Take out and turn over the egg rolls and then microwave again for 30 seconds.
  5. Use a paper towel to remove any moisture.
  6. Take them out and check the internal temperature to make sure that they are hot enough on the inside – Serve

Air Fryer Egg Rolls: When it comes to reheating egg rolls in an air fryer, you should also make sure that your fryer is not too hot – I have found 350F to be good, and it takes about 4 minutes per egg roll batch to reheat.

 If you want to reheat the egg rolls in the oven, just place them inside a baking dish with some water at the bottom so that there are no drips from the egg rolls while cooking—Bake for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here’s the method to reheat egg rolls in an air fryer:

  • Preheat Air Fryer to 350F
  • Place the egg rolls space out in the basket and heat for 2 minutes.
  • Use tongs to turn over the rolls to the other side and reheat again for 1-2 minutes.
  • Take out and Serve

Can I reheat Frozen egg rolls in an air fryer?

Yes, but you need to cook at a low temperature first to allow the inside to thaw, then increase the temperature to 350F. If you do not, the outside of the egg roll will burn before the inside gets hot.

Dutch ovens are oven-safe, making them ideal for braising meat or reheating food.  

  1. First, preheat your dutch oven at 350 F
  2. I find using a metal stand will keep the egg rolls of the very hot bottom
  3. Place the egg rolls on the metal stand or trivet.
  4. Bake for 5 minutes and then turn them over to the other side
  5. Turn down the oven heat
  6. Bake on that side for another five minutes
  7. Take out and serve

Egg rolls can be reheated in the toaster oven.

If you want to get crispy egg rolls, then try using a toaster oven. They are efficient and give a crispy egg roll as a result.

  1. First pre-heat your oven at 325 F (160C)
  2. Then place the egg rolls on a small baking tray lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper
  3. Bake for 4 minutes and then roll them over so they heat evenly all the way through
  4. Bake for another five minutes until you see them getting crispy and golden brown.
  5. The toaster oven is small, so watch as they can burn easily.
  6. Once done remove and plate for serving.

How To Reheat Egg Rolls in a Microwave and Oven

This method gives you a quick heating method – the microwave – and it ensures that the centers of the egg roll are hot and at a safe food temperature of 165F. If you have any doubt – is my egg roll bad – chuck them out. But if you must reheat them, this is a suitable method. 

The second step is to use the oven to make the outside crispy again.

  6. Bake in the oven for 4 minutes and turn
  7. Bake again for another 3 minutes and serve.

How to Store Egg Rolls

The best way to store cooked eggs rolls is in airtight containers, preferably plastic ones with tight lids. They should stay fresh for at least 5 days if stored properly. If you plan to store them longer, then I recommend freezing them.

Here are some tips for reheating egg rolls:

  1. Place the frozen egg roll in a microwave-safe dish and cover with plastic wrap, leaving an opening to vent steam. Microwave on high until heated all the way through. Then transfer to the oven – see the method above.
  2. Egg rolls can be reheated with a deep fryer. Immersing your egg rolls into the hot oil will make them look good, but be careful do not to cook too long.
  3. How many degrees should the oven be to reheat an egg roll – between 350F and 375F
  4. Use egg wash to make leftover egg rolls look more golden. Paint the egg wash on with a brush on a baking sheet.

If you have no time to thaw frozen egg rolls, use the deep fryer it is the best way to cook them.

The key to success is not using too high heat initially and starting the cooking with low to medium heat. After about 3 minutes, take out and drain in the basket. While they are draining, turn up the temperature and then fry at high heat for two minutes to get crispy.
