- 2 cups White Rice (Long or Short Grain)
- 4 cups Water
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- ½ tbsp salt
Put a large enough (medium is usually good enough) saucepan on top the stove element and turn the heat up to medium-high. Bring the water to boiling, then remove it from the heat
Add the salt as the water boils. Then, if you're using butter, let it melt.
Once the rice has cooked, add the salt and stir well. Put on the pot lid again and let it continue cooking for another 10 to 15 minutes. If you're using larger quantities of rice, you may need to increase the time by 5 to 10 minutes.
When you can not see any water boiling in the middle section, the rice is ready or done.
Let the rice sit or rest for at least 10 minutes after cooking so that all the water has been absorbed by the grains.
Fluff with a spoon, let it sit for two more minutes, and your rice is ready.
